The Narrow Gauge in the "Wooded Quarter"of Austria
This DVD takes you to the north of Austria near the rich Bohemian lands of what is now the Czech Republic. The terminus of the system is in Gmuend, once rent in twain by the Iron curtain. Now this little town has become the border town between Austria and the Czech Republic. Gmuend was one the local administrative centre of a 760 network intended to spread deep into the Bohemian countryside. The lines once reached Gross Gerungs, Litschau, and Heidensreichstein. All these lines have now been closed. The highlight of the programme is a five o clock departure from Gmuend to Gross Gerungs over what is generally called the "Wooded Quarter Semmering" due to the Alpine" nature of this narrow gauge railway.
